Maintain a healthy weight
Dietician services
You may feel that you need specialist dietician support.
Nutrition plays a vital part in treating a range of medical conditions, supporting your recovery from illness, and improving your health.
You will be seen by a state registered dietician or by a healthcare professional working under our supervision. We work to a professional code of conduct and are regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council.
We see adults and children who need advice about what to eat and drink for a variety of medical reasons, and use dietetic counselling to help you to self-manage your condition. For example, this could include patients who have:
- Type 2 diabetes
- Coeliac disease
- Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis
- Food allergies and food intolerances
- Irritable bowel disease
- Nutritional deficiencies, for example, iron deficiency anaemia
- Lost weight and may be malnourished
- Swallowing difficulties (dysphagia)
- Cancers affecting their nutrition
- Neurological conditions where these are affecting their nutrition, for example, motor neurone disease
Appointment wait time
We aim to see you within eight weeks of your referral, or sooner, if your medical condition is more urgent.
Appointment location
Most patients will be offered an appointment at our local clinics. We also run some specialist clinics at other healthcare venues across the county. If your GP tells us that you need a home visit, we will contact you or your carer directly to make arrangements.
