Mental health problems such as depression or self-harm can affect any of us, but they're more common among people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT).
This may be linked to LGBT+ people's experience of discrimination, homophobia or transphobia, bullying, social isolation, or rejection because of their sexuality.
There are several ways to access support. NHS LGBT+ Mental Health Support has useful information and links to organisations.
Mindline Trans+ is an emotional and mental health support helpline for anyone identifying as transgender, non-binary, genderfluild. Call 0300 330 5468 lines are open Monday, Wenesday and Friday from 8pm to 12 midnight.
Rethink Mental Illness call 0300 5000 927 lines are open Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4pm (excluding bank holidays) or email at advice@rethink.org
